Electra and Speedy Hire Prove the Power of Electric Fleets with New Performance Data
Following the successful rollout of our latest and smallest platform, the 7.5t GVW Electra Deliver-E, we’ve gathered new operational data that highlights the fleet’s exceptional performance, reliability, and sustainability in active service.
Speedy Hire, the UK’s leading tools and equipment hire provider, integrated the Electra Deliver-E trucks into its operations in 2024, with the aim of enhancing fleet sustainability while maintaining operational efficiency. Since deployment, the vehicles have delivered measurable results in both performance and environmental impact.
Performance Snapshot – April 2025
Real-world data from Speedy Hire’s fleet use in April showcases the effectiveness of Electra’s electric trucks in demanding operational settings:
- Average Daily Distance Travelled: 100.55km
- Average Daily Energy Consumption: 50.94kWh
- Energy Efficiency: 0.56kWh per kilometre
- Energy Recovery: 4.0kWh recovered daily through regenerative braking
- Battery Management: 36.42% average daily State of Charge (SoC) utilised
- Charging Behaviour: 51.59kWh charged daily on average
These figures, of which a large proportion are motorway miles, underline the reliability and energy efficiency of Electra’s platform, reinforcing its value for high-frequency, urban and regional logistics operations.
The Electra trucks continue to serve critical roles in Speedy Hire’s national fleet, transporting heavy-duty tools and equipment with zero tailpipe emissions, aligned with the UK’s net-zero targets. The platform boasts 140 kWh of battery capacity and weighs in at a near parity to its diesel counterpart, fitted with 150 kW DC fast charge meaning these trucks can achieve the toughest of duty cycles.
While Speedy Hire’s use of the Electra 7.5t trucks has focused on transporting tools and equipment across construction and industrial sites, the platform is designed to serve a wide range of sectors. From municipal services and utility support fleets, to retail and last-mile distribution, waste and recycling, and even event logistics, Electra’s flexible flatbed and box body configurations offer practical solutions for zero-emission operations in diverse industries.
