Electra Drives Sustainable Change: Collaborating for Food Waste Reduction with Innovative Chassis Solutions

Revolutionising Sustainability in the Battery Electric Vehicle Space

Electra, a pioneer and disrupter in the electric and powered vehicles industry, is propelling sustainability to new heights by aligning its vision with the Food Waste Reduction Roadmap. This groundbreaking initiative, led by (DEFRA) WRAP and IGD in collaboration with major players in the UK’s food industry, seeks to reshape the landscape of food waste and create a more sustainable future.

Launched in 2018, the Food Waste Reduction Roadmap is a comprehensive program designed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal 12.3. Through extensive consultations with businesses, trade bodies, and stakeholders across various sectors, the initiative aims to accelerate actions to meet the Courtauld Commitment 2030 food waste target and Sustainable Development Goal 12.3.

In March 2023, WRAP and IGD unveiled an updated version of the Roadmap, introducing new resources to guide businesses on their journey to reduce food waste. The roadmap provides a comprehensive toolkit, enabling businesses to ‘Target, Measure, and Act’ effectively against food waste.

Recognising the urgency of sustainable practices, Electra has embraced this initiative by incorporating food waste reduction strategies into its business model. Despite providing only the chassis but working in close collaboration with several preeminent waste collection body manufacturers, Electra is committed to contributing to the broader goal of achieving a sustainable and circular economy.

Ben Smith, Managing Director of Electra, expressed enthusiasm for the company’s involvement, stating, “Being part of the Food Waste Reduction Roadmap initiative is truly exciting for us at Electra.
